Syyt erota kirkosta

Redditin /r/exmormon/ palstalla julkaistiin hauska kartta "Why I Left". Kartta on tarkoitettu entisille mormoneille ja karttaan voi jokainen käydä lisäämässä pinnin oman seurakuntansa alueelle, sekä kertoa syyn miksi lähti kirkosta. Tätä kirjoittaessani kartalla on reilut 1650 pinniä ja lisää tulee jatkuvasti.

Some of the things I learned in Seminary seemed strange to me, so I looked into them more. One thing led to another and I decided on leaving.

The church tells bald faced lies to its members all the time. It is untrustworthy, unethical, and damaging.

I couldn't live the life of shame that they wanted me to. And the thought that they wanted me to have children and make this their life too.... I couldn't bear it. Once you learn the truth about what the church was and is- it was impossible for me to keep lying to myself and living that life of unhappiness and shame.

Already knew it was not true, finally left because I started to see how they turn family against one another.

When you live your life according to all of the tenets of "the gospel" but are only left feeling a deep self of self loathing and misery you know it's time to move on.

I don't have to have the promise of heaven to be a good person. I can make my own life decisions without being obedient to a cult.

Yllä oleva on vain siis pieni otanta kartalle asetetuista pinneistä. Monissa pinneissä myös todetaan kuinka kirkko huijaa ja harhauttaa ihmisiä, kuinka Joseph Smith oli huijari ja teeskentelijä. Joskin kartalta löytyy myös joitain vitseiksi luokiteltavia merkkauksia, kuten esim Pjongjangista:

Valtaosin kartan arvo on kuitenkin siinä, että ympäri maailmaa uskoaan epäilevät ja entiset mormonit voivat nähdä sen, etteivät ole yksin ja kuinka kirkon jälkeenkin elämää on. Monissa pinneissä itseasiassa juurikin todetaan kuinka elämä on muuttunut kirkosta lähdön jälkeen vain paremmaksi, ei ainoastaan taloudellisesti vaan myös henkisesti, kun kirkon syyllisyyttä ja häpeää lietsovasta ilmapiiristä on päässyt irti.
